World War - Iraq, Ireland - pictures
War on our streets - gangs, guns. Tell a real story.
War in our school - sometimes unkindness - bullying, fighting.
War in me - my hands, my tongue - role plays: e.g. someone being unkind and hurtful, child walks away upset; or helpful - child being kind, child puts arm round each other.
What can I do?
- be a good friend
- obey school rules
- be a member of the team
- be thankful and polite
- think good things about others
School prayer
Songs: "Make me a Channel of Your Peace"; "You Are My Brother".
Obviously there is more here than one assembly but parts can be added to or omitted.
Children love being involved - having helpers or children to act out role plays. Older children could read things or hold up pictures. They love the opportunity to give their opinions. Puppets always work well - do dramas or just to assist the speaker.
Phillippians 4 v8-9 - good to use in church schools.
